I refuse to acknowledge anything as a New Year’s Resolution. \u00a0Doing so is the fastest way I know to guarantee it will fail. \u00a0I am starting a couple of projects, for fun. \u00a0The first is exercise-related, making the most of the snazzy mini-gym we put in the basement.<\/p>\n
The second is a desire to make every single recipe in one of the new Lindsay Nixon cookbooks I bought. \u00a0Happy Herbivore Abroad: \u00a0A Travelogue and over 135 Fat-Free and Low-Fat Vegan Recipes From Around the World.<\/span>\u00a0 I chose this one because it was the first one downloaded on the Kindle.<\/p>\n Now, I can’t claim to be vegan any longer, but getting as close to plant-based, whole-food is where I want to be. \u00a0I’ll start with some of the side dishes. \u00a0The Mediterranean Chard looks good, and I happen to have chard, olives, and capers on hand. \u00a0That will add to the smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, and cranberry that’s planned for dinner today.<\/p>\n So in my post-holiday existence, I don’t know what possessed me to agree to a fasting blood test on Jan 2nd! \u00a0I mean, the peanut brittle was barely gone, and there was still coconut eggnog in the fridge. \u00a0But there you have it. \u00a0Now I’ll have to persuade my doctor to re-test me in 30 days, because my closer-to-vegan diet and mini-gym use will make a drastic difference. \u00a0We’ll see.<\/p>\n Stay tuned for Mediterranean Chard!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I refuse to acknowledge anything as a New Year’s Resolution. \u00a0Doing so is the fastest way I know to guarantee it will fail. \u00a0I am starting a couple of projects, for fun. \u00a0The first is exercise-related, making the most of the snazzy mini-gym we put in the basement.
